Mark Leave of absence
Taking a leave of absence from this blog until after the election.
I’m sure Chris will appreciate not having to become the complaint department as that I don’t remember him volunteering for that position.

Ahh…, that takes all the fun out of things! Feel free to send any rants my way for posting, I like complaints.
Hey if it was just me, Id stay bit chris and James didn’t sign on for this
I’m not goin away, just takin the fight off this blog
wait til September nastiness begins
if these guys don’t like dealin with me, they won’t come close to being able to handle what’s in store.(that’s not a threat, just the consequence of who they align themselves with)
you are who your friends are.
Thank you for the advance warning. Your “fight” is not welcome on my blog either.
Yeah, cause you don’t insult anyone there.
Really, your response is quite indicative of your whole modus operandi of preaching to others of how they ought or should think; and then ignoring your own sound advice. You demand others to rise above; “you’re better than that Chris”, etc. etc.
There’s a word for that, but do not want to insult the thin-skinned.
Mark B please let us know where you do intend to post because I for one like reading your comments and ideas. I may not always agree but I like the debate; It broadens my mind and opens me up to new ideas.
Unfortunately SD will be a bit less without you. Dont be gone for too long.
Mark, here is something from the ontario liberal’s collingwood conference - that you might like. Malcolm Gladwell is suggesting that their might be a role for larger and smarter government. At the least, it provides some balance from The Star’s small government push and Chris Vander Doelen’s luv in with Tim Hudak.
Keynote Address by Malcolm Gladwell, What the Dog Saw

Thank you, watched half already, waiting for the punch line.
I already like how he talks about society’s new problems being too much complex information and the need to analyze it.
When it comes to the financial industry and current economic crisis:
I just don’t know how you can do it with the large sums of money involved
Watch or google “confessions of an economic hitman”, basically says any country’s leader can be bought off for $300 Million to act against their country. Imagine how cheap a Tax analysist might go for.
I watched a TED talk on the corruption by the guy who worked for the IMF saying he saw a power plants costing 9 figures built in Nigeria financed by western banks nowhere near any potential means to distribute the power based on bribes and he couldn’t stop it.
Whether its the current economic crisis or not. You see e-health, adscam, gun registry and the sponsorship scandal and its makes you wonder how to stop the stealing
No real punchline … just a fresh point of view.
Personally, I like the suggestion that governments should be more willing to experiment and that we should look at failed government experiments as learning experiences. But not likely in our ultra-partisan political envirounment at present.
Just imagine, if you can’t state the obvious that the bridge company and their supporters maneuvered themselves into a dead-end without being bullied off our own blog. What chance is there for non-partisan exceptance of some failed government experiments?
And what “dead-end” did I manoevre myself into, Edwin? I’m very curious.
I continue to find it of great interest the lengths and leaps in logic some will take in the attempts (weak at that) to discredit those who support independent private investment over public subsidy of private enterprise.
And exactly who bullied who exactly again, Edwin? Hardly the tone to engage “non-partisan” discussion - which I’m sorry (no offence to Mark) Mark doesn’t exactly espouse either.
Back off, let it die, no ones arguing eith u, I’m stayin away from ur blog. Enough
Btw does your private investnent bullshit line pertain to contracting out cupe jobs.
Why don’t u take some time to reconcile ur issues
Apparently Edwin, I’m supposed to learn that its not what I say but how I say it that is the offence. Until I get that (which I doubt) I’m removed
In my opinion, it is always wise to lay low during political silly season anyways.
Yessirreee
Mark B you are you removed from posting columns or are you removing yourself during the silly political season?
Personally, I find “larger” smarter gov’t to be an oxymoron. Seeing as Canada has a huge rate of gov’t workers (being paid by an ever increasing tax rate with no end in sight) I don’t think larger is needed at all.
Working smarter not harder should reduce the amount of workers living off of the outrageously high salaries they get from teh rest of us pee-ons (taxpayer).
Shhot I forgot to add. Chris S I cannot read your blog at all anymore have you banned some people? Just curious because I can’t log in to even view any of it.
I don’t know Dave, I shouldn’t even be posting here, just answering Edwin’s questions/comment when Mr. Schnurr jumped in. Its hard, like an addict I can’t resist.
I think Edwin hit it on the head, watch these other guys self destruct and then return. Still respect Schnurr, hell still probably vote for him or give him a check depending on what ward he ran in.
Now you have the whole “Windsorsquare.ca” thing going on. ooooh!,
What I like is I found in philosophy of logic classes is that when you pursue a flawed argument, it continues to get more absurd as you follow it along. Thats why I often jump ahead, to show the absuridty of where things are leading.
Take Schnurr terrorist post. If I were to respond, I’d point out that while he’s correct in pointing out that in 9/11 multiple targets are chosen, that terrorists always fail to hit all the targets (United flight 93) so redundancy is still effective.
Bridge company jumped the shark with their RCMP comment, Van der Dolen hit ‘em good with his question. The fact that Mr. Schnurr and LOS can’t ever point out a criticism while solely defending only makes them look ridiculous
Oh, and I’m just waiting for Schnurr to point out that I misread his comment. That way I can respond that everyone did see how he cleverly parsed his words. A high level of cleverness that normally I would only attribute to our mayor.
Sorry I didn’t mean to have anyone’s name brought up. I was just curious (albeit nosey) as to why you were going to post anymore.
Please continue to do good work downtown. You are very needed in this city.
That leave of absence didn’t last very long. Too bad.
I was just getting to enjoy the respectful and considered discussion and then Mark has to make his presence known. Well, there goes the neighbourhood. He can’t simply “answer a question” without resorting to smeering Chris or others with his illconceived notions. I would say “leaps in logic” but logic has very little do do with anything Mark is involved with.
Dave is right to say, however, that Mark is “very needed in this city” at least as an example of the personification of contradiction, an example of bloat and largess, and an example of successfully being unseccessful.
Keep your (inherited) money Mark. Any candidate trainted by you doesn’t deserve to be elected.
Wow, your post intrigues me. The worst insult I threw out there was an accusing someone of being “clever” and that’s what u unload
with?
Yeah, had a relapse, oh well.
Please people. Are we all not here for the betterment of our once fine city? Are we not here for the betterment of ourselves while in the process of learning?
We do not have to see eye to eye; we all have the right to conspiracy theories regardless of where we stand; we all have the right and dignity of changing our minds or seeing things from a different perception. We even have the right to destroy or own progress.
Hopefully we can be more adult about things in the future and not destroy the steady progress we have been making. Trust me when I say we are making a difference, we are changing the attitudes of people. But we cannot become too bitter and divisive as to ruin that progress made.
Difference of opinion? Then state it and let others have their right to say their piece and leave it at that. Healthy argument is good. Slagging each other, cheap shot bullshit and pettiness has no room in an adult discussion.
For the sake of all, regardless of your point of view, who you back don’t muddle the message.
Thanks.
Sorry Dave but you’re talking with people who have only discuss issues through the paradigm of an unalterable mindset. Just as the Uniblogger cannot acknowledge something bad about the Bridge company, others are set for or against officials and/or organizations.
They live in an echo chamber where some look for rationalizations and justifications to support their already made up positions.
I though this less true of Mr. Schnurr until his new unholy alliance with the others (the whole absurd Windsor Square thing that displays logo’s without permission to appear legitimate) in what I would call a “strategery” that will harm him more than anything.
Sure they want to see the city better, as long as it doesn’t involve contracting out or building a DRIC. How those issues get resolved in my opinion is less important than the issue of getting on to improving Windsor.
Regardless of what border crossing we choose or what particular services are performed by whom. or even who the particular elected officials are in charge, Windsor will not only survive, it can thrive.
We lack perspective.
Thats why I see the end of the border crossing debate a victory regardless of which crossing gets built because it will stip the distraction
Excuse me Mr. Boscariol - I was not addressing you. I’m asking Edwin to clarify and/or explain his statement.
If I am to understand your “logic” you can make unsubstantiated claims against anyone you choose; but should that target dare question you label it “bullsh**” and having “issues”.
LOS is correct in one regard; “He can’t simply “answer a question” without resorting to smeering.”
I suppose shame on me for wasting my time for the second time Mr. Boscariol last summer. You certainly talk the talk.
Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. There will be no third time.
Dave -
I am unable to “ban” people from accessing a free blog. I can only ban keywords and specific IP addresses from commenting.
Last month I took the blog down for about a week. It has since been “re-activated.”
Try emptying your internet cache? That may do the trick. Otherwise, not sure what the problem is.
“….Mr. Schnurr until his new unholy alliance with the others (the whole absurd Windsor Square thing that displays logo’s without permission to appear legitimate) in what I would call a “strategery” that will harm him more than anything.”
Yet another lie and smeer from Mr. Boscariol.
I am not affiliated with whatever Windsor Square is. Nor have I posted the logo on my blogsite.
I’ve pretty much had enough of these lies and will respond accordingly.
Hey, made a mistake on the windsor square thing, Apologize, I thought it was all three, must have confused it with the three comments grouped right in a row on the freepress sight defending the bridge company were grouped together.
Still think that Mr. Schnurr is quick to crucify me for alleged smears but leaves the other guys alone when they smear. Double standard.
If you’re gonna police things like alleged smears and lies, then you can’t be selective about whom you call out
Nice try Mr. Boscariol. No offence to anyone intended, I’m only concerned with defending my own person from your lies.
You’re worry about people smearing would be taken more seriously if you didn’t remain completely silent about the uniblogger, whose sole purpose has been to smear any Bridge opponent for several years.
Pretty selective on your objectivity, arent you
If you mean, by “smear”, to expose faulty arguments, to expose lies and misinformation, and to expose obfuscation throughout the entire process, then what exactly is your point?
And by referencing the “uniblogger”, I really don’t know what Bert Delgado has to do with any of this. http://bertdelgado.com/
I thought you were on vacation. I was looking forward to some constructive conversation here.
By “smear” I’m assuming what the uniblogger who the bridge company says they are fond of, and has worked with before, does every day for the past several years while you and Mr. Schnurr remain silent. Now all of a sudden “Smear’s” bother people. I don’t buy it. Either you call it out consistently or you condone it. Can’t remain selective about it.
Thanks Chris S I will try that.
Men (I can’t say gentle at this point) take this silly schoolyard, nya nya stuff elsewhere. You have all said your piece now please let it go for the sake of others.
Will it ever stop? It makes me sad to think of the great conversations that were once had on this site. It seems everyone has ‘disappeared’ for whatever reasons.
Sorry redefine yourself, I thought it would be less offensive if I separated my presence into a dedicated thread as the other guys also won’t let it end.
Will cease this thread as well
