Windsor BIA teams up with City to Green Downtown

By Chris | July 14, 2011 |

From the DWBIA’s press release:

The Downtown Windsor Business Improvement Association (DWBIA) has partnering (sic) with the City of Windsor’s Department of Parks & Recreation to further Green Downtown. Armed with garden gloves, shovels and much enthusiasm, DWBIA merchants and over 30 members of the Windsor City Center Entertainment Association (WCCEA) will meet outside the DWBIA Offices, 474 Ouellette Avenue, at 10:00 am on July 14 to help beautify 50 cement tree planters in the city centre.

Supporting their efforts is Parks & Recreation who have generously donated hundreds of plants including boxwoods, spirea and grasses to the cause, and who will be providing volunteers with a planting demonstration.

“The City and our members who are volunteering are helping us improve the visual quality of downtown Windsor,” says Virginia Cosco-Pizzuti, DWBIA Chair. “It’s a wonderful collaboration and we’re deeply grateful to Parks & Rec for supporting our efforts.”

Finally! I have been trying to get this going for over 2 years. Great to see that it is finally happening.

I wonder if the DWBIA has contacted the DRA (Downtown Residents Association) for any assistance? That would seem like a no-brainer to me.

The more the merrier : )
