I like some of what Kunstler has to say, and it’s important. Sometimes though he’s too cranky — too “old man cranky” rather than thoughtful. Rants about starchitects et al. Anyway, I read him, but not as gospel. I like my city a little different.
Bang on, Shawn. I find Kunstler a very entertaining gent, yet I would rather he didn’t become the spokesman for the new urban movement.
While we all need people who speak their miinds, we don’t want to be marginalized because of them. I still read him, though, because he says all the things we want to say but have the manners with which to say them a little better. He’s like that little devil on your shoulder
