Some Random Radio Statio

Sorry for the delay in posting this episode, but we were waiting to see if the full show was going to be archived on the CJAM site. For some reason, the days archives didn’t start until 12:13 pm, so we are missing the first 13 minutes of the broadcast. I wish I had a transcript for you, but you’ll just have to take my word for it that it was the most exciting 13 minutes of radio ever to visit the airwaves!

Mark and I had another in-studio guest this week. Downtown resident Dave Couvillion visited us to discuss the new Downtown Residents Association and the trials and tribulations of living in an area of the city that most residents have all but given up on. Dave has been and active and vocal proponent for increasing the quality of life of those who chose to make our core their home, and his insights are valuable.

Enjoy!

Chris - check out Screamer radio (http://www.screamer-radio.com/download/).

I’ve been using it for over a year and a half now and love it. It’s a very small and easy to use program. You could run it off a USB thumb drive and use it to capture the CFRU stream, as a backup, in case you have difficulties in recording your show. Another option is to use Screamer Menu (http://www.donationcoder.com/Software/Skrommel/#ScreamerMenu) in conjunction with Screamer and schedule your recording from home.

Will do, BBS. We just let CJAM automatically record the shows (if you haven’t been to their archive section, they save 1 hour blocks at a time) and we grab them from their website and archive to SD, because CJAM only keeps their shows up for 30 days.

I’ll check out your link, though. Anything that can make our process better is “OK!” in my books. As long as it isn’t too difficult for the technophobe at the wheel of this ship :)

I actually hadn’t tried the scheduling part of the program until today. It’s a little wonky, though you can make it work. I did try running Screamer off a USB and recording and it works no problem. I’ll email you a copy of the program with all the local stations pre-programmed. You just have to unzip it on a thumb drive. Plug it in, start the program and hit record. A couple of clicks and you’re in business.
