Where have all the bloggers gone?
Getting ready for the Blogger meetup tonight, I was looking at some Windsor blogs
Maybe because I’ve had a spurt of blogger activism lately, I noticed. Seems like some of my favorite bloggers are posting less although there’s plenty of great regulars too many to mention without leaving out important ones
There’s a good article about blogging here . Seems this is becoming very common in the last 12 months all over the blogosphere
Alan Halberstadt: Friday May 15th
Caroline Postma: May 10th
M.O.M. - May 14th
Kdduck - March 24th
Scaledown - Windsor’s first Blogger Posse still has some infrequent posts but recently saw readership skyrocket. Mark’s news reports one very bright spot. Might need another one or two more dependable contributors, usually let Chris make the call.
Who’s the blogger you miss the most?
I’ve got two on the fire right now at home. News is easy to do but fun! I only publish about a 1/3 of what I gather through the week but there is the rub, I usually spend about an hour and half to two hours every day going through my news alerts to get the news that we are interested in at Scaledown, then the minimum of three hours of selecting this weeks stories and their relevance to Scaledown and the community, which leaves me little time to write other blogs, which I want to do.
Alas life gets into the way as well! Blogging every day or every other day is hard and almost a full time job, including the research that some need. And to be consistent and on time weekly is a rough one also.
But there is a need for it in this city. With the News, I try to find and link to things happening in other cities, or ideas that might help this city or give someone a spark to try something, or links to issues of one city that might be a concern here. It’s more of a good stew than straight reporting.
James now has his own website, Brendan has seemed to slip away. It would be great to have a female(s) voice(s) on Scaledown, they experience and see a city almost differently from males and I would love that perspective here.
It’s very typical to see blogging decrease in the Spring and Summer once nice weather arrives.
I agree, Mark. I would love to have some female voices contribte to SD! I’ve put the call out for that before, but nobody bit.
I don’t think most people realize how time consuming this blogging past time is! Sure, you could technically throw tgether a post in ten minutes, but what you don’t factor in is the 76 hous of brain activity that goes into each post that makes it onto the web! Throw a radio show into the mix, and…well
So if anyone is interested and wants to take Bosco up on his offer - send me an email to [email protected] and we’ll see what comes of it!
BBS, it is just not the fine weather as you know..good blogging is hard! To many blogs start out with the right intentions but if not kept up and written regularly, they fade from sight as I have found out when chasing a story. Good blogs are current and keep their readers interested.
Sorry but I have been amiss.
Work has kept me concentrated on sustaining the business rather than keeping up on current events and opinions. From finding work to dealing with revenue Canada, I do have my plate full. There is just too much going on and not enough time.
It boils down to one common denominator in all iof the city’s problems.
I will get back to it, trust me.
