ScaleDown Radio, March 2, 2009

Our On-Air home Monday's from noon 'till 1:00

We asked - and you delivered! When Windsor grows up, you want to see it mature as a “Green City”!

Well, this is obviously a topic that is going to take numerous shows and blog posts to investigate, but today we started by asking Windsor’s independant business community whether they would buy-in to such a scheme. We interviewed Rino Bortolin from downtown’s Black Kettle Bistro as well as Adriano Ciotli from WindsorEats to find out their thoughts.

We also delved into tonights council agenda to find numerous nuggets to discuss. The widening of Cabana Road and the loan to the Windsor Symphony being the items focused on. It’s time like these where I wish we had more than an hour. There were so many items of interest on the agenda tonight; the University-area planning district and the rezoning of Dougall Avenue being amongst them.

So tune in and play your part. This is our city and we need to mold it as we see fit!

Music:

  • Smooth Maxx, Groovy Ride,
  • We Wish We Knew, Even The Wind,
  • Less Than Useful, Chevrons and Cul-De-Sacs, and
  • Lead in tune, as usual, was If I had To Eat You (I would save your head for last so I could kiss you goodbye), By Ten Indians
  • Enjoy!

Thrilled to be able to find this live here - tried to tune in yesterday but my poor little box doesn’t pick up this at the store. Very interested in helping make Windsor a green city! It will be the thing that keeps this city alive in my opinion.

The way things are done in Windsor is like a three stooges story.

Moe, Larry and Curly at work in the City of Roses. But where is Larry?

A couple out for a walk at the riverside park watched two landscaping workers in a rose garden. The first one dug holes. As soon as each hole was completed the second worker filled it in. After a dozen such holes were dug and filled the couple couldn’t contain their curiosity and asked the landscapers, “You don’t seem to be accomplishing much?”

“You don’t understand,” explained the first worker. “We are usually a team of three: I dig the holes, Larry plants the rose bushes and Curly here fills them in. Larry is home with the flu today, but that doesn’t mean that Curly and I can’t work, does it?”

Windsor needs to work smart. We need vision, we need a cohesive plan, and we need to work towards accomplishing objectives. Working in isolation without a guiding vision is simply digging holes and filling them in again.
