Urban Mediations Symposium Tomorrow at Artcite
From our friends over at Broken City Lab, co-sponsors of this one-day symposium at Artcite, starting at 9:00 AM. Click here for the day’s program.
Thursday, May 14 going to be an incredible day: Urban Mediations, a one-day symposium on urban media studies is taking place in Windsor. Co-organized by the University of Windsor’s own, Dr. Michael Darroch, the symposium will involve a collection of researchers, artists, designers, and activists talking about what it means to research the urban.
Urban Mediations, co-ordinated by Michael Darroch and Janine Marchessault, is the second symposium in a series focused on the historical contexts, current practices, and future directions of urban media studies. Panelists, including artists, researchers and graduate students from the University of Winsor, York University and Ryerson University are all concerned with research methods that cross the humanities and fine arts and will reflect upon the cultural spaces, visual fabric and mediated character of cities.
Sounds interesting. Sucks that I have to be at work all day. If anyone from SD goes, I’d be interested in reading about / listening about (SD Radio?) what goes on.
Thank you for the head’s up Chris.
For those who may be interested, I was fortunate enough to attend a conference in Calgary entitled Gaining Ground: Sustainable Urban Development Leadership Summit last Thrusday and Friday. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was the keynote speaker and was exceptional. This was by far the best conference I have ever attended.
Maybe we should try to get one of these Summits in the Windsor/Detroit area to begin focusing our ‘leaders’ on the real issues at hand.
