Steve Paikin's The Agenda

Chances are you have the day off work, so there’s really no excuse for you to miss this groundbreaking show.

This coming Monday (Thanksgiving), ScaleDown Radio host Chris Holt will be interviewing the host of TVO’s flagship current affairs program The Agenda with Steve Paikin. Steve is coming to Windsor on October 20 to air the premier episode of The Agenda with Steve Paiken - On The Road with the goal of investigating Ontario’s current economic turmoil from the point of view of the people at Ground Zero. That’s you and I, folks.

Be sure to tune in to CJAM 91.5 FM (will also be archived right here on www.scaledown.ca) this Monday from noon ’till 1:00 PM to hear what Steve thinks of our current situation as well as what the future holds for communities such as Windsor who have relied on the status quo for their economic well-being, well beyond their best-before date.

TVO goes On the Road to Windsor

Two-day event combines social media and live broadcast of The Agenda with Steve Paikin

TORONTO, September 29, 2008 - TVO’s flagship current affairs program, The Agenda with Steve Paikin, is embarking on a highly anticipated five-stop tour for a series of interactive explorations of the changing nature of Ontario’s regional economies – and the resulting social impact on our communities.

The first of the On the Road specials will focus on Ontario’s troubled manufacturing economy, and will broadcast live from the Art Gallery of Windsor Monday October 20 at 8:00 p.m. Guests confirmed to date include Sandra Pupatello, Minister of International Trade and MPP for the riding of Windsor West, and Jim Stanford, Canadian Auto Workers Union economist.

“Providing a platform for smart, informed discussions is something we’re committed to at TVO,” says Chief Executive Officer Lisa de Wilde. “The Agenda with Steve Paikin: On the Road represents a significant milestone in our use of participatory media to engage Ontario’s citizens in important provincial issues.”

One of the highlights of The Agenda with Steve Paikin: On the Road is the AgendaCamp, an innovative TVO-hosted community forum the day before the live regional broadcast. Marrying internet-based social media and face-to-face interaction, the AgendaCamp brings together community leaders, policy makers, members of the public, program guests, anchor Steve Paikin and invited bloggers to problem solve around the major economic issues and challenges of the sector. A wider online audience will be able to follow and contribute to the AgendaCamp at www.tvo.org/theagenda Ideas arising from the AgendaCamp will be incorporated into the next evening’s live broadcast. The AgendaCamp at the first roadstop will take place at the Art Gallery of Windsor on Sunday October 19.

“We aim to bring viewers right into the discussion,” adds anchor and senior editor Steve Paikin. “This is a powerful opportunity to meet with Ontarians in their own communities, and to listen to their perspectives on the economic trends that are affecting them so close to home.”

The Agenda with Steve Paikin: On the Road is also coming to:

Sault Ste. Marie, November 16/17: The Resource-Based economy
Eastern Ontario, January 18/19: The Agrarian economy
Thunder Bay, February 8/9: The Aboriginal economy
Waterloo, March 29/30: The Innovation economy
