ScaleDown Radio, November 24, 2008
A key aspect of improving Windsorite’s quality of life has been identified as our local municiple elected representatives. ScaleDown readers/contributors consistently, and rightly so, consider city council linchpins when it comes to moving our city in a direction they deem important. So, it raises a lot of red flags/hopes when it comes to light that the way our city is governed is being scrutinized.
The City Clerks office is bringing before council a report asking whether we should change our current ward system to “something else”. What that “something else” is going to be has yet to be determined, so we can’t judge the replacement yet. However, do you feel that the current 2 ward councilors per the 5 wards in the city needs to be re-examined? Let’s get an insiders point of view…
Today, we’re joined in the studio with former member of Windsor City Council Joyce Zuk. Joyce was a Ward 1 councilor under both the Hurst and the Francis regimes and has a lot of insights into the inner workings of the life of a city councilor. Joyce also brings her Political Science background with her as we examine the pros and cons of readjusted ward borders, fewer politicians and “at large” representatives.
