The reach of our medium

By Chris | February 2, 2009 |

Writing this blog feels like a very local thing.  Most of the people reading and commenting live in or around Windsor/Essex County.  I know this isn’t the definitive truth, but it definitely feels that way.

Being the “owner ” of a blog, you get all sorts of information about the people visiting you.  No - nothing sensitive.  Don’t worry.

But we do know where you’re from.  I see all sorts of different countries of origins when I occasionally check out our demographics.

I forgot about the true reach of this medium of ours until I saw this video.  The content has nothing really to do with ScaleDown (yet I will be checking out www.openstreetmap.org to find out more about this app. All the white “flashes” you see in the video are users uploading information) except remind me of just how tiny the internet has made this planet of ours.

Think about that the next time you write a comment. I know I will be thinking about it while I’m penning my next article.

Via Internet, yes, but when one is driving from Toronto to Windsor for the umpteenth time, around West Lorne one starts wishing it was yet even still a little more tiny.

    Cheers from Hogtown.
